Multi-scale analysis of a prototypical model for the interaction between oscillations and phase transitions
speaker: Andrea Braides (Università degli Studi di Roma "Tor Vergata")abstract: I present a simple variation of the Modica-Mortola theory of phase transitions, where the wells of the "double-well potential" depend on the space variable in an oscillating fashion, highlighting different scales and the dependence on the different parameters (oscillation period, interface thickness and wells location).
