Equilibrium states of geodesic flows for surfaces with nonpositive curvature

abstract: The talk describes work in progess with Vaughn Climenhaga, Todd Fisher and Dan Thormpson. We believe that we can show that there are new equilirium states for a range of geometrically interesting potentials. This extends a result of Knieper who showed that there is a unique measure of maximal entropy.
