speaker: Graham Denham (University of Western Ontario, London)abstract: Resonance varieties of (linear) hyperplane arrangement complements have been studied extensively, and they are understood almost completely in cohomological degree 1. In higher degrees, though, the picture is quite incomplete. By regarding the Orlik-Solomon algebra as a functorial construction on a suitable category of matroids, some additional structure and new phenomena become apparent. I will give some examples and advertise some open problems.
