Sobolev and BV functions on metric measure spaces

abstract: In this talk I illustrate some recent developments of the theory, which lead to a more unified picture and the identification of ``strong'' and ``weak'' notions of gradient, avoiding finite-dimensional assumptions like doubling or Poincare' inequality. The tools are based on optimal transport theory and the theory of gradient flows. Joint papers with Gigli, Savare', Colombo, Di Marino.
