A Covering Lemma for Certain Monomial Polyhedra
speaker: Alexander Nagel (University of Wisconsin-Madison)abstract: In joint work with Malabika Pramanik, we consider maximal averages over families of sets defined by monomial inequalities. A proof of the Lp boundeness of the corresponding maximal operator for p>1 has appeared in Duke Math. J., but the argument there does not give information about the behavior of the operator near p=1. In this talk I will discuss an alternate approach via a covering lemma argument.
